The snow that fell on January 7, 1993 for the last time in recorded history in Antalya, exactly 29 years later, filled the people of Antalya with joy. In line with the warnings of the meteorology, the expected snow in the city center started around 03.00.
The people of Antalya, who received the news that it would snow in the morning, waited for the snow without sleeping all night. Citizens who went down to the city center after the snow started to fall, experienced the joy of snow after many years. There were people who recorded this moment on the streets, took photos and videos, or called their loved ones and wanted to experience this beautiful moment together.
Except for the high sections; Konyaaltı coast, Belek coast, including Side coast were covered with white snow. On the other hand, snow thickness and density were higher at higher altitudes: Ovacık Plateau, Taurus foothills, and the upper parts of Kemer were covered with snow. Snow thickness in the upper parts of the belt reached 40 centimeters in some regions. Arched youth snowboarded on Ovacık Plateau, where the snow thickness exceeds 40 centimeters. Hearing the news of snow, the people of Kemer went to Ovacık Plateau after a 20-minute journey with snow scenery. Kemerli youth enjoyed snowboarding for hours in the company of this unique landscape.
Mustafa Can Demirtaş said that they went to Sarıkamış last week for snowboarding and said that he was happy to have done this sport in Kemer. Demirtaş said, "I have been doing snowboarding for years. We went to Sarıkamış last week because it had not snowed in these regions for a long time. I hope this snow falls in the coming years, it will be an alternative activity for Kemer," he said.
